Do you think it's true that we're defined by the company we keep? In other words, do you share similar characteristics and personality traits as your friends?
Have you ever had someone of the opposite sex ask you to hook you up with a friend of yours? Here's my theory on the difference between guys and girls when making such a request...
GIRLS: When a girl asks a guy to hook them up, it's because the guy has qualities that are desirable but for whatever reason, he's unavailable. She thinks that maybe the guy will have a friend that's comparable in personality and sometimes even looks. That's why girls are selective in which guys they ask for hookups. In addition to hoping for someone comparable, they think highly enough of the guy they're asking to trust his judgment in the selection. You don't see single girls just going around asking every guy they know to hook them up do you?
GUYS: When a guy asks a girl to hook them up, it's because the guy wants some ass. The only reason why the guy isn't pursuing the girl he's asking is because either he doesn't find her attractive or she has a boyfriend, although usually it's the former. A guy doesn't look at the girl he's asking and wonders to himself..."Wow! She's such a great girl! Maybe she has friends that are just as great!"
Instead, a prerequisite is thrown into the question for good measure..."Do you have any CUTE friends you can hook me up with?"
In conclusion, us guys are shallow bastards! hehe
EDIT: For the girls that disagreed about being defined by your friends, let me ask you this. If you saw a guy hanging out with a bunch of known players/dogs, would you assume the guy was one too? If you said no, you're lying! Guilty by association.

ur theory on why girls ask guys to hook them up is wrong. ive asked a guy friend to hook me up before in the past. nothign was desirable about my friend. he was a nice guy yea but i def didnt want him as my bf and he def was single. he jus had hot friends.
i dont trust my guy friends so i wouldnt even bother asking.
the qualities in which guys look for when potentially hooking up their girl friend with another person are completely different from what the girl expects. a lot of guys i know see girls to be superficial so they think girls are looking for guys that are"financially stable" or has a "nice car." not all...but quite a few apparently as we get older. i think most girls want someone compatible, dependable, and understanding.
I think you're right cause I always ask girls too hook me up so I can get some ass... and they never seem to ask me to hook them up =(
i agree with you in the sense that all guys are just dogs and just want ass. haha, thinking with the "other head" perhaps. but i dont think girls ask guys b/c of what you stated. in fact, i sorta agree with kpmissy. it may be b/c they realized that a cute guy was your friend.
i wouldn't ask a guy friend to hook me up b/c i want someone like him. he'd probably know guys that are completely different from him anyway. maybe she'd ask her guy friend cuz she thinks he has the attitude to meet potential, compatible mates. who knows, maybe she wants hot ass, too.
i don't think you are completely defined by your friends...but there must be some sort of common ground for the basis of the friendship.....u know? I have lots of friends that are polar opposites from me, but we share something in common that makes us such good friends.
haha i find it hilarious when guys try to insist that they are decent yet ask for me to hook them up with "good girls." my gfs are all awesome, smart, & fun girls... i would never let them near some of the wannabe/anti-committal players ive come across!
I think people can have different sets of friends. It depends on the setting of where you’re at.
I have my school/work friends who I act really proper in front of. All my close real friends are mostly from childhood. They are night and day from one another.
all my "adult" friends are similar to me so I guess your theory is correct. we hang out with people who are similar.

iono man...i always have guys asking me to hook them up wid my grl friends...but truth IS that they would NOT get along or they just arent the grls' type and i know this cuz my friends n i are the same and i know *what* type they would go for....but somehow i cant just say that straight out to the guys cuz its too mean...so i jus usually say, Nahhh from the get-go...

I don't really agree with you on this one. A person can have many types of friends. For example I have my party friends, which I usually only hang out with when I going to a party or a club, and then I have my church friends, which I usually only hang out with when I am in a church setting, and last I have my old school college/high school friends, well I just do anything with them. Point is each group of friends satisfy a different need in my life and each group of friends are a world of different except for one thing, they are all down to earth good people.
