  • Curiosity killed the Cat


    Have you ever inadvertently found out something that maybe you wish you hadn't?


    A few months ago, a girl I know came across a box of pictures and letters at her bf's place while snooping around.  Although these were girls of his past, she was nonetheless upset at the content.  Another person I know got pissed when he secretly opened up his gf's email and found letters to another guy.


    How about you overhearing a private conversation where two people (friends even) were talking badly about you?  Do you say something?


    What if you found out that the guy/girl you liked used to be a total slut/whore?  Would your opinion of that person change?


    Isn't it amazing how certain bits of information can totally shatter one's view of another person?  As much as we want people to be honest with each other, I guess the saying of...


    "Be careful what you wish for you, you might actually get it" comes into play.



    P.S. Classes start again tonight.

  • yeah...it sucks when you find out things by "accident".  personally, this is why i am a firm believer in the HIDE NOTHING - TELL EVERYTHING theory.  if a person cant love you for who you are, then they're not the one for you.  and who you USED to be made you into the person you are today.  You dont have to make it the main focus point of your relationship, but the other person has the right to know.

    as for friends talking shit about you....i would just forget that they were my friends.  with friends like that, who needs enemies?

  • yea i agree totally with spacegirl...but with friends its different, i tend to confront them and try to put it in the past..i guess it depends on the content...

    and i also believe there are certain things that are better left untold...but those are a very FEW things from the past...everything else u should be honest

    if u hear taht the person u like used to be a total slut/player, its hard for ur opinion to stay exactly the same. u could easily still like the person but the thoughts of him/her being a former slut/player will mess wid ur head at times. this happened to me when i heard that this guy i was somewhat interested was a former slut. then everytime he made a sexual joke, i got SO turned off. and that feeling of getting so turned off is what made me become anti-interested. i was almost repulsed only cuz every comment he said reinforced what i had heard. i tried not to let it fuck up my judgment cuz whats in the past is in the past. ppl change, ppl make mistakes. it was hard to in this case tho. owelz.

  • the past is the past...however, you shouldn't totally dismiss the past depending on the situation....

    Knowing too much info can be bad, but what you described is breaking one's trust.  I think if you trust someone, there is no reason to snoop.

  • well, people might argue and say that "it wasn't any of your business so you shouldn't get mad" but at the same time, if i was able to find out that piece of information, then it was your fault for making it THAT easy for me. yknow? i think if i overheard people talking about me, then i have every right to approach them. if they were my true friends, they wouldn't have talked behind my back.

    so... i guess what i'm trying to say, is that if you're gonna talk shit behind my back, then you better be watchin your back. ;)

  • Great entry. I know how it feels to find out about something inadvertantly. Given a choice, I would never wanted to know....but if not for it, I will not become the person I am.

  • i think when it comes to certain personal things...they should be kept to that person...they're just trinkets...little reminders of his/her past that he/she chooses to keep.  for his/her significant other to find it...it's their fault by snooping.  relationships are supposed to be based on trust...if one cannot trust the other...it's doomed to fail. 

    all 'secrets' eventually will be revealed on their own.
