GODZILLA!!!
So yesterday afternoon, I was in the office when I felt the building starting to shake. Suddenly the building intercom comes on telling everyone to evacuate immediately. We all get outside and I see a huge billowing smoke coming from across the street. I saw people and cars covered in mud, crap, and whatever else blew out from that hole. It was a bit reminiscent of 9/11 and in observing the crowd of people around me, it made me wonder if New Yorkers have become desensitized to crazy events. Rather than running away from the chaos, people were gathering around taking pics, including myself. =P I have a better pic on my phone which I haven't uploaded yet.
The Bad: Apparently 1 person died from the incident.
The Good: My office is closed today because they haven't given the safety go ahead for the air in the area.

omg - you're one of those people i want to strangle when they are clogging the sidewalks and takings pictures of some catastrophe! when i was downtown during 9/11, my colleagues walked over to the building to "get a better look" and they ended up having to run like hell when the buildings collapsed. tsk tsk!
that's a better pic than the ones on the news.
