The Difference between a DOG and a PLAYER:
Many people (especially girls) consider the two terms to be synonymous in reference to guys, but they are actually quite different. Perhaps I can explain the distinction between the two by defining each term as I believe them to be:
DOG - A guy who has hooked up with a lot of girls. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing though. A lot of times, girls have the misbelief that if a guy has hooked up with a lot of girls, it means that they cannot be trusted or that they aren’t capable of commitment. Just because a guy has had many partners does NOT mean you can’t have a meaninful relationship with the guy.
For some guys, they just haven’t had the luck of finding the right girls to have relationships with. They may try their best when in a relationship but sometimes due to circumstances beyond their control, things just don’t work out (ie PSYCHO girls
). These guys genuinely want to make the girl happy, both emotionally and physically, but if the effort level is only one-sided, then the relationship is doomed to fail.
Believe it or not, dating a dog can actually be a good thing. Since they are looking to please the opposite sex, they can only get better with experience. “I’m not a player I just crush a lot” – Big Pun

PLAYER - A guy who has hooked up with a lot of girls. Starts off the same right? Well, that’s pretty much where the similarity ends. A player is basically a predator. Their motives and intentions are purely selfish and the goal is just to hook up with as many girls as possible. To achieve this goal, they will stoop to any level they can. The most common method is to mislead the girl into thinking that the guy is sincerely interested in her and is looking to work towards a serious relationship. The truth is, he’s just trying to get into your pants.
The bigger the player, the bigger the expectation the girl has, the bigger the hurt is after.
Another common way that player’s get what they want is to take advantage of a girl’s vulnerabilities. This can come in the form of insecurities, emotional instabilities, drunken states, etc. Basically for a player, girls are put into one of three categories:
1. Girls they’ve fucked
2. Girls they haven’t fucked yet
3. Girls that are too ugly to fuck
The only reason why a player would be JUST friends with a girl is if they fall into category 1 or 3. They will try to maintain a “friendship” with girls in category 1 however, just in case they are needed for Round 2. This is possible because if a girl has fallen into category 1 already, they can be kept there.
Now that I’ve explained the distinction between the two terms, I’d like to say that the they are not to be taken as black and white. Think of the two terms as opposite ends of the spectrum with most guys falling somewhere in between.
Note: As bad as a player may seem, don’t think that the girl doesn’t play a role in what happens. I will discuss the girl’s liabilities in a future entry.

The way I see it, sex is not on the menu for a first date. In fact, I don’t see it until you realize you both have feelings for each other but lightly taken sex has never been high on my list of priorities. If sex is all it is and no one is concerned with mental anguish after the act then go for it but I have my doubts that anguish is never a side effect for the woman involved if the act was only that, an act.
Nice guys don’t take you to bed on the first date and really nice guys think about you for a long time before they start thinking about themselves.
